More on our Sunday Sessions

The BSR has over 300 members and some 150 of them attend the club’s live jazz sessions at the Pismo Beach Veteran’s Memorial Building on the last Sunday of the month (holidays excepted), from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. We host a guest Traditional Jazz band that performs for our members and guests. The bands are often World Class and come from throughout the State, from San Diego to San Francisco. The guest band will play two sets, 1¼ hours each. In between, a local band will play a 45-minute set. At 11:00 a.m. there is also an opening two-hour jam session where local musicians, including youth, can play together on stage and teach and learn the ebb and flow of Traditional Jazz music.

Food and drinks are served for very reasonable prices during the session to keep the members fortified. Dancing and carousing is encouraged! You might even see an impromptu New-Orleans style parasol parade! Jazz paraphernalia are for sale. There is a Monster Raffle of jazz CDs, wine and sometimes olive oil. Admission is only $5.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members. Silver members are free. Where else can you get six hours of non-stop music for that price?
